Summer Steelhead

Description: Fish report from RD this morning. Morning fog. River at 3480 cfs. At 0730 in the upper run at Blue Creek, I got a wimpy 2 foot pull and a solid hook set, so I knew it was a steelhead. The fish swam steadily upstream and bulged the surface 3-4 times, then did a few short runs when it started into the shallow water. After that, it was a tug of war until I beached him. It was an average 28" 8 lb male fish. It was the first SH on my 7134 Burkheimer. I was using the 540 gr Skagit line with 12 feet of T-8 and a purple summer leech. There's steelhead in the river just need to get out and fish!

Still swimming!

Description: The New Lamson ARX 4+. No more hang-ups with mono running line. We now have a US made full frame reel from Lamson! For easier application of palm-drag a portion of the frame was removed. The ARX employs the same conical drag system all the Waterworks-Lamson reels, The ARX has much beefier components than those of its smaller reels. The ARX is finished in Type II Black Hard Alox with grey accents on the cassette, and a better drag knob. The ARX 4+ will be workhorse for sure in my guide trips! For the 4+ model, at 4.75 diameter, with the capacity for 275 yards of 30lbs Dacron, and 100 feet of 30lb Guideline comp line, or SA floating monocore and a 520 to 750 grain skagit head, and as much sink tip has you need! Works very well on the 13' to 15' spey rods. This thing is a beast! The 4.00 inch and 3.75 inch models will be available in late summer. Call for availablity, and taking orders!
